Went to the Palace of the Legion of Honour in Lincoln Park today. My appreciation of the work of Rodin was cut short after an hour by a screw popping out of my eyeglasses and my right lens falling out.
It’s impossible to find a grey screw less than a millimetre in size on a dirty wooden floor in a huge room when you’re half blind. Especially in a museum full of people and security guards eyeing you curiously as you scrabble around on your knees clutching half a pair of glasses.
It’s even more impossible when you try to do so wearing sunglasses if you consider the dim lights typically found in museums which are doubtless fine for appreciating the finer colors of oil paintings but aren’t good for distinguishing between very small dark particles.
And art simply can’t be appreciated correctly through dark tinted spectacles.
(That, plus I was standing out as a sunglass wearing freak.)
So I did the only thing I could: I took the bus back home.
